Italian Albanians, Darkon and DARKFALL REVIEW-ish.

WARNING: EXPLICIT CONTENT. WE SAY THE S WORD AND THE GD WORD.

SO, so...SO, we like, went to one of our favorite Italian restaurants to catch some lunch, and lo and behold the crowd was small so it was the perfect time to record! We were halfway through a very poop-filled weekend, thanks to a tornado, a backed up sewer line and tree branches in the yard.

Needless to say, it was hot, sticky and not a very good time to record. Yet, we did 'cuz we are hardcore.

We are talking about Darkfall, and I go a bit more into some of my reasons for liking it and disliking it. I will still give it much more time, but at this point I am not sure I will re-sub after this month. Great game, needs some work, and we talk about it.
Then we review Darkon, a documentary about LARPers. You can watch it for free on Hulu right now, and if you are worried about "spoilers," skip our review until after you watch it.
The music from the show is from Jimmy Eat World (not bad for older emo dudes,) Neil Young, some dude named Bach and a band called Pink Floyd. You'll recognize the songs, I hope.

Let us know if you prefer the music coming from better known artists or if I should go back to indie chicks. I like indie chicks, but after a while they all start to sound too breathy. Sad, but breathy.

SO, this week we visit resident old-person hangout Cracker Barrel for authentic 1872 cooking. Well, 1972 at least. Our waitress was named Cheetara, but she didn't have a one-piece on or a baton weapon. I had the hots for Cheetara when I was a kid, but never beyond my feelings for Jessica Rabbit.

The setting was perfect to ask the question: "Am I too old for this?" So, are we? Why do we play these games set in fantasy worlds beyond imagination? Why do we play for several hours during the week, some of us playing more than we work? Why do some of us avoid "real life" activities like going out to dinner so that we can order pizza and log in?

Isn't this something that only children are supposed to do? Or are we adults just children ACTING like adults? Do we have such adult thoughts all the time that we never think the same thoughts we did as a kid?

Our songs this week are perfect for the show: "Young Americans" by David Bowie, "American Girl" by Tom Petty and, for some weird reason, "Working for the Weekend" by Loverboy.

Please, parents, take no offense when I say that children have, essentially, taken all the fun out of the house. If that's the case, someone needs to tell my friends like Shuttler and Cindy that they are not having fun. Because those two are having a BLAST. So STOP IT. You HAVE CHILDREN.

I'm kidding. Next week we are going to record the "Darkfall Preview" show. At the time of this recording I had not tried it, but have since.

This week we take a step outside of one of our favorite breakfast spots and enjoy lot's of cars, smog and birds going CAWWWWW CAWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

We are discussing my blog that I wrote in which I told stuffy people to go stuff it when over-analyzing Free Realms. But let's be clear: Van Hemlock are not the ones I meant. Van Hemlock can over-analyze a tack and it would be good to listen to.
I was simply talking to about 5 or 6 very specific bloggers/podcasters that said such silly things as "...the quests are typical MMO drivel..." and "..the game reminded me of a more grindy WoW."

For the record, I was in not referencing Syncaine, but did so in the show because he came over to my blog and commented on why he thought the 2 million user announcement was "funny." (As though he caught SOE red-handed at some kind of cover-up.) Syn is actually a fun guy to argue with, because he is the ANTI-me, he is a RULE-player while I am a ROLE-player. He follows the rules, let's games tell him what to do and thinks that anything outside of those rules counts for nothing. All these rules set in lands that are populated by monsters and faeries, strangely enough.

Still, I can see what he means. But you can find the "evil cover-up" in anything done by any corporation, because the purpose of a large corporation is to make money. There is no cutting off point. But that's not evil, really, that's just life.

So I was addressing weird blogger/podcaster people that seem to think they are holding gaming companies to task, or think that their whining and bitching makes some kind of difference. Even if their whining and bitching influenced a decision at a gaming company, that is neat, but not something to use as a life goal. Again, we are talking about VIDEO GAMES here.

Video games are meant to be enjoyed. If you do not enjoy them to the point that you are always bitching about them (a little bitching is healthy and normal), you are weird. Get a hobby that you LIKE.

Now, enjoy the show. I wish we would have taken a picture of the tan lady, being that she seriously looked like she had a problem. I am a funny looking guy, and don't judge people on their looks, but this lady was so tan that she was obviously addicted.

The music on the show comes from all sorts of sources. the jazz tune being from a dude named Paul Bley. The song was called "Time will Tell." I love stuff like that, to a point. I want to buy the soundtrack from the movie "Naked Lunch" based on the book by Billy Burroughs.

Then I threw in the beginning "song" from Anarchy Online, one of the BEST ways to fade into game-play in any MMO.

Also, got a lil piano in there from the movie "Amelie."
